So, even with my other pen name (E.G. Stone, where I write primarily spec fic pieces), I am still a fairly new indie author. I’ve only been doing this full-time for a year and change. As a romance author, this year is the first year I’ve been publishing rather than just putting writing out for the world to read on various websites. And I have to admit, I’m really loving this journey.
I get to discover new stories, explore better ways to write. I get to flex my linguistic muscles and connect with awesome people. I am enjoying this thoroughly. Except…marketing isn’t my strong suit.
Granted, marketing was never really something I focused on until I basically decided to be an entrepreneur and be an indie author. My studies and areas of focus included linguistics, multiple languages, even anthroplogy, but rarely marketing. I’ve had a fairly steep learning curve since starting this author thing. And I’ve made progress! But I’m also fully aware that I have a ways to go.
The whole point of this blog post was to discuss why I haven’t really done much in the way of adverts for The Wooden Rose, which comes out on the 1st of September (NEXT WEEK!!!). Mostly, it’s because I’m super busy with several other projects, as well as doing marketing for other books. But partly because I’m just not very good and I’m still learning.
And you know what? I’m okay with that.
I’m happy to learn new things and apply my knowledge. I just have to have patience, because, as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
